We are shipping Tuxedos on a regular basis. May I once again I remind you
that I am a small one man company who keeps costs down and wants to keep
it that way.
So once again, I will build it myself, keep it simple, keep it easy to
use and keep it low priced. I will hand build each one just like I
do with the Black Box and guarantee the heck out of it.
If you
break it, I can most likely fix it. The most common occurrence is
the towering fall that occurs when someone trips over your rig because
they didn't see the light stand feet. Next time find a better place
to put your light stand or get a helper.
As long as you didn't break it intentionally, and we can tell by luminal
testing (shows blood particles left by the Tuxedo bouncing off someone's
head)
You pay only a small fee for shipping and a few shekels for parts.
THE TUXEDO
The Tuxedo comes in one color
OFF-White. Your pocket will not care! It is designed to slip into a pocket
and be as unobtrusive as possible.
Just look and click on the model in the photograph. Celeste is a)
beautiful b) 5'.4" and c) 100 lbs soaking wet and it fits in her
dungarees.
If the white color bothers you, we have a plan for those non-conformists.
Paint it. Carefully with electrical tape cover the ports and clip.
Electrical tape makes nice edges. You can paint it with KRYLON
Spray Plastic Paint in any color you find on the shelves at Home
Depot. Use Krylon made for plastic, not enamel.
Turkey Hunters using six volt powered calling devices and using the Tuxedo may paint
theirs Camo Tree-Bark. Ladies may choose pastel
colors for the summer and dark shades to match their nail polish in the winter. Those with alternate life styles may choose psychedelic versions
hand crafted by artists in California where pot is abundant.
INFORMATION:
The Tuxedo is our alternate
power pack using a 1.4 amp hour sealed Lead Acid battery weighing a
whopping 20 oz.
It was built it as a backup for:
-
Quantum 1 owners who need a backup.

-
For those light assignments with a 200
auto mode shot capacity.
-
And for digital cameras smaller Nikons,
Fuji's, Canons and
others with four AA batteries as a power source ( not for Li-ion
replacements)
-
Smaller flashes such as the
SB -10 as shown. The SB-10 was slow as molasses till we couple it with the
Tuxedo and it's a whole new game now.
-
It is not an "accelerated pack". I explain
elsewhere why I will not build accelerated packs.
-
It measures 6 inches in
length by three inches wide by 1 inch thick and fits in a jeans pocket
unless the wearer had them painted on like J-lo.
-
It slips in a Tuxedo pocket,
see picture above and is
fitted with our smallest charger
with 500 MAH. It is ideal for travel and brings the Tuxedo to peak
in less than 2.5 hours since Tuxedo batteries for 2007 are larger.
-
They come with both the
HD DIN
and HD RCA Jack
-
They come with an ingenious
"pole clip" mount. Pole clips are available for $3.00 so they can be hung with a simple wire tie.
-
If you are using a Black Box
setup cable now you will not need extra cables. That integrates both
products and gives you versatility. The charger circuit will be
the same as the Black Box Unit. This keeps your costs and luggage
down.
-
It is about 27% of the
capacity of the Black Box.
-
It is
available in combo form with a Black Box.
-
SORRY WE DO NOT EXPORT
THE TUXEDO, the charger costs too much. It would add thirty dollars to the
cost almost equaling a Black Box.
"What's a Pole Clip?"
These are pole clips. They are made from readily available hangers found
in the electrical department of Lowes or Home depot and they are used for
attaching conduit to walls or ceilings.
We add SHRINK TUBING to make
the metal less prone to scratch your light stands and to get a good grip
on the metal surface.
The bolt comes with it but I
prefer to enlarge the capture end with a 1/4 inch drill so that the bolt
swings or free wheels and then use a lock nut or NY-LOK on the thread to
make it stay tight.
VOILA!!! "Mon Shootiere",
you now have a hanger for the Tuxedo. It also makes a great hanger
for the Pocket Wizard, use a short 1/4 x 20 bolt to the Wizard. Just slip the pole clip on the
apex of the hanger and use a simple wire tie to put it together. The
really brave can simply use the supplied self tapping screw for a more
robust connection but whatever don't drill the case.
Drilling the hanger is OK but not into the case. |

YES, IT'S DIFFERENT!
Some manufacturers charge 20-40 dollars for a simple clip to hang the box on. We
think out of the box. Thinking in the box dictates each accessory has to
cost more than the product. We think accessories should be affordable,
simple easy to utilize, does the job per se, and above all user friendly.
I like this system because it
is field fixable without exotic tools and repair manuals. I adopted this
simplistic approach because of the fact I
can't work on my cars or airplanes anymore unless I invest in a huge piece of electronics for
diagnostics that currently is in the SNAP-ON or MAC Tools catalog. Based
on their prices they charge for tools SNAP -ON should change their
name to Strap-On. ( Ok, a little edgy with that one)
Sometimes when I need an idea
I will spend hours in a catalog, or store just looking at things. One day I was
in a warehouse and noticed how all the conduit was exposed and mounted to the
walls and ceilings. Conduit looks like light stand material.
But the design of the Tuxedo
is so tight (Rattle it and tell me if you hear anything) that a misplaced screw
could cut the battery or worse cause a short. That's why the connector on the
back of the Tuxedo is in the shape of an inch worm. That's the odd shaped plate
on the back with a hump in it. For those who never saw one this is what an
inch worm looks like. About an inch long with a hump in it.
Here are the many ways you use the inchworm:
a) Just drill a very small pilot hole (1/16 or 3/32 hole) just going through the
apex of the inch worm and then use the furnished screw to complete the job as
shown in the picture.
b) Just slip a baby carabineer
through the loop and hang on something, your belt, the loops on your pants, your
rearview mirror, a piton on Mt. Everest, your dogs neck chain and so forth.
c) Just slip a wire tie
through it and clip it off when you are done.
d) Any key ring will fit it
and attach an infinite amount of gizmos.
Simple enough. Simple allows
you to use it the way you benefit most....
Thank you
S. Simon
